To quantify and assess management of patients with palliative care needs in orthopaedic wards at Leicester Royal Infirmary.


Each ward used a simplified version of the Prognostic Indicator Guidance (Gold Standards Framework, 2006) to identify patients thought to be in the last 12 months of life. Once patients were at least 3 days post-surgery, they completed a questionnaire about their symptoms. The …
