Many members of the general public and the organisations for which they work feel isolated from the community around them. For example, they do not visit their local care home or hospice unless it is absolutely necessary. Breaking down the barriers that exist between various institutions and the communities and residents they serve is important as it helps social integration. Every care home is part of a wider community. Schools, hospitals, colleges, shops and banks are all part of that community and many of these organisations may be interested in working in partnership alongside other groups.
